Republic of Botswana, is a landlocked republic in southern Africa. Under British rule the country called Bechuanaland, Botswana but took its new name after it became independent within the Commonwealth on 30 September 1966. It borders South Africa to the south, Namibia to the west, Zambia to the north, and Zimbabwe to the northeast. Botswana has since independence been considered one of Africa's successful democracies.

The capital is Gaborone. With restaurants, nightclubs and shopping areas provide Gaborone an urban retreat from the wilderness journey.

It is the wild animals who owns Botswana. And the changing landscape images that scroll by when traveling through the wildlife-rich land from marshes to desert, is like flipping through an endless pile of lovely postcards. To holiday in Botswana is a sansepirrende experience. The wildly branched baobabtrærne stand out against a sky that is painted in fanciful colors of sunset.
